Understanding PCOS and How Biomagnetism Can Support Your Body

September is PCOS Awareness Month — a chance to talk openly about a condition that affects roughly 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, yet is still widely misunderstood and, for many, frustratingly slow to diagnose. If you’re one of the many people living with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or you suspect you might be, this post is for you.

As a Biomagnetism practitioner, I want to share both what’s actually happening in the body with PCOS, and how the biomagnetic pair therapy method can sit alongside your medical care to support your system back towards health and balance.

What Is PCOS, Really?

PCOS is a hormonal condition, not simply an ovarian one — the name is a bit of a misnomer. It’s typically driven by a combination of:

  • Insulin resistance — the body’s cells don’t respond well to insulin, so the pancreas produces more, which in turn drives the ovaries to produce excess androgens (male hormones)
  • Hormonal imbalance — raised androgens and disrupted oestrogen/progesterone ratios, which interfere with ovulation
  • Low-grade chronic inflammation — increasingly recognised as both a cause and consequence of the hormonal picture
  • Adrenal and thyroid involvement — for a subset of women, adrenal androgen overproduction or subtle thyroid dysfunction plays a significant role

Common symptoms include irregular or absent periods, acne, excess hair growth, hair thinning, weight gain (particularly around the middle), fatigue, and difficulty conceiving. But PCOS presents differently from woman to woman — it’s rarely a single, tidy picture.

Where Biomagnetism Fits In

Biomagnetism, developed by Dr Isaac Goiz Durán, works from the premise that pathogens, toxins, and imbalanced tissue create localised shifts in pH — pockets that become too acidic or too alkaline. These pH-disrupted zones create an environment where pathogens can thrive and where organs struggle to communicate properly via the body’s electromagnetic field.

Using pairs of magnets placed at specific points on the body, a Biomagnetism session aims to neutralise these pH imbalances and interrupt the ionic conditions pathogens depend on — helping to restore the body’s homeostasis.

For PCOS specifically, a session will often look at the biomagnetic pairs connected to:

  • The ovaries and uterus — addressing local tissue pH and any latent pathogenic load
  • The pancreas — supporting the insulin-resistance picture that underlies so many PCOS cases
  • The liver — the organ responsible for clearing excess hormones from circulation
  • The thyroid and adrenal glands — given how closely these systems talk to the reproductive hormones
  • The pituitary and hypothalamus — the command centre for the entire hormonal cascade

Because Biomagnetism looks at the body as an interconnected electromagnetic system rather than isolated symptoms, a session doesn’t just target “the ovaries” — it looks at the wider terrain that’s allowing the imbalance to persist.

What to Expect From a Session

In my Biomagnetism sessions, we start with a conversation about your symptoms, medical history, and general health. We then move onto muscle testing to identify which areas of your body and systems are out of balance. Magnets are then placed at the relevant points for around 20–30 minutes while you simply rest. Most clients fall asleep and find the sessions deeply relaxing. And then the healing continues after you leave.

I would usually recommend a course of sessions rather than a single visit for chronic hormonal patterns like PCOS have usually been building for years and the body needs consistent support to shift. But how many will depend entirely on you and what your body needs.

A Complete Approach, Your Way

Some women choose Biomagnetism as their main, standalone approach to supporting PCOS. Others prefer to use it alongside conventional medical care. Both are totally fine — it comes down to your body, your history, and what feels right for you. Whichever path you choose, staying informed about your own bloodwork and diagnostic picture is a good idea, simply so you know exactly what your body is working with.

Ready to Explore Biomagnetism for PCOS?

If you’d like to find out whether Biomagnetism could support your PCOS journey, I offer in-person sessions at my home treatment room in East Wittering, West Sussex. I also have a Home Biomagnetism Kit available for those who’d like to begin exploring self-treatment between sessions (online consultations are coming in the future — watch this space).
